It seems simple…make a mistake, say “I’m sorry” and all is resolved. Yet true apologies extend far beyond those two simple words. Apologies require ownership, accountability, action change and providing hope. For children and families who have experienced discord, unhealthy patterns of power and control, abuse/neglect, substance use/abuse and or involvement with child welfare systems, we have found the extreme power in utilizing therapeutic apologies to restore relationships, foster reunification, and support families in their journeys through services. This webinar will explore the 4 steps of a therapeutic apology, identify times to integrate this concept into treatment and provide time for participants to practice with each other. This webinar is designed for clinicians but open to any child welfare professional who wishes to learn more about the concept.
