Supported by Casey Family Programs, the Center joined them in hosting two gatherings of key stakeholders such as Texas DFPS, and the state’s SSCCs to take a close look at Texas family preservation. The group aimed to understand the effectiveness of programs currently in place, to analyze data and outcomes of impacted families, and to translate the findings into advocacy for the right policy priorities during the upcoming legislative session.
The first convening in April included data presentations, two mothers who generously shared their lived experience in the Texas Family First pilot, and a Judicial Panel.
The second convening in June included a presentation of important program and demographic data from the Center, ideation about successful programming and funding sources in other states, a presentation from Casey Family Programs, and a brainstorming session.
