Every day, young people are deceived, manipulated, coerced, and forced into the commercial sex industry. This multibillion dollar industry is inherently harmful and systematically targets the most vulnerable in our communities.
This three-hour introductory training gives service providers, law enforcement, and youth-serving professionals the tools needed to better understand, identify, respond, and ultimately, better serve victims of the commercial sexual exploitation of youth (CSEY).
PARTICIPANTS WILL:
Understand the local and national picture of commercial sexual exploitation of youth
Gain knowledge on recognizing an exploiter and common recruitment tactics used to groom youth
Understand the physical, mental, and emotional impact of commercial sexual exploitation
Understand the roles racism, classism, sexism, and gender- based violence play in perpetuating this form of child abuse Learn to utilize the Stages of Change Model in working with commercially exploited youth
Understand individual roles in identifying victims and responding to disclosures
My Life My Choice is nationally recognized, survivor-led organization that specializes in prevention and intervention for youth at high risk of commercial sexual exploitation or who have already experienced commercial sexual exploitation.
