Please join us for FREE training on the National Adoption Competency Mental Health Training Initiative in recognition of the Trauma-Informed Month on May 26th, 10 to 11 a.m. Chosen in collaboration with the Texas Alliance of Child and Family Services (TACFS) is pleased to sponsor a trauma-informed virtual training by the National Adoption Competency Mental Health Training Initiative (NTI). NTI is a free web-based, self-paced training that enables child welfare and mental health professionals to better address the mental health & developmental needs of children in foster, adoptive or guardianship families. This one-hour session will highlight key feedback from TACFS and Chosen staff about their own and their constituent members’ experiences with the NTI training. Edna Davis-Brown, MPH and Lisa Maynard, LMSW, both NTI Implementation Specialists with NTI, will provide an overview of as well as feature specific trauma-informed content and activities contained within NTI. Edna Davis-Brown, M.P.H., currently serves as an Implementation Specialist with the National Adoption Mental Health Competency Initiative (NTI). Ms. Davis-Brown has 25+ years of experience in program development, management, implementation, evaluation, training/technical assistance development and delivery. She holds a graduate degree in Public Health Education from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. Ms. Davis-Brown is also co-founder of the Gregory B. Davis Foundation, a small non-profit formed to preserve the legacy of her youngest sibling, Gregory, who died of AIDS in March 2000.
Lisa Maynard, LMSW, LCSW is a Licensed Social Worker with expertise in trauma, attachment, and adoption, working in child welfare for 30+ years. Lisa is an Implementation Specialist for the National Adoption Mental Health Competency Initiative (NTI). She also maintains a private therapy practice in Upstate New York, integrating yoga philosophy, meditation and mindfulness in her work with clients, guiding them to explore life challenges in a safe, supportive environment.
