Today we are excited to share with you the newly redesigned www.tacfs.org. This site is curated for child-serving organizations, professionals, and partners.
It is a timely launch — May is Foster Care Awareness Month, and we are passionate about sharing the work happening across Texas to serve kids and families. But we also know that the child welfare system in Texas is struggling. It is a critical moment to invest time, resources, and brainpower to strengthen our services and communities of care. We hope that this site will offer resources and insights as we look to next steps to build a stronger safety net for children, youth, and families across Texas.
Here are a few items you might want to check out on the new site:
- We built a library of TACFS publications, including our new analysis of the implementation of Treatment Foster Care in Texas, and a Practice Tools Section with our frequently updated FFPSA service matrix. Our Data Dashboard allows users to drill down on key information in child welfare by demographics, location, and more.
- As we begin the final month of the 87th Texas Legislature, we invite you to review our policy priorities, all of which remain key issues in the final days of the legislative session. In addition, we are building resources for long-term key initiatives including Foster Care Capacity and the implementation of the federal Family First Prevention Services Act.
- We invite you to take a peek at our official TACFS Newsroom, which includes stories, articles, press releases and more, featuring our statewide network and partners, and our response to crisis in the field.
When we began working on this site our priority was to build a foundation for continued growth. There is more to come and we are excited to collaborate and build resources to serve TACFS members and the greater Texas child-serving community. We also look forward to hearing your feedback on this new resource!
