About TACFS

Every day, Texas serves tens of thousands of the most vulnerable children and families in the child welfare system. They experience trauma from physical abuse, neglect, poverty, domestic violence, substance abuse, and more. The Texas Alliance of Child and Family Services (TACFS) is a network of mission-driven organizations that have embraced the call to serve these children and families, and are working together to improve our care, services, and outcomes statewide.

TACFS is the primary statewide association of child and family wellbeing providers. With both full and supporting members, our network brings countless services to families in every corner of the state. Find a full list of our members and learn more about what they do on our Member Page.

Together, we work to build a strong, stable, and effective child welfare system through education, advocacy, collaboration, and research—always informed by the real-world experiences of providers doing the work on the ground.

At TACFS, our responsibility, above all, is to the children, youth, and families across Texas that our members serve every day. Our vocation and our passion is to understand and work to undo the damage caused by trauma, create a system where vulnerable children and families experience safety and wellbeing, and maximize the potential of each child and family.

TACFS is more than 50 years old! Learn more about TACFS history.

About the Center

The Texas Center for Child and Family Studies is the research and training arm of TACFS. The Center is largely focused on equipping agencies and industry professionals with the knowledge, tools, and skills needed to deliver high-quality, trauma-informed care in their communities. We also help bring community stakeholders together in an effort to move the entire child and family well-being system forward.

We call this system advancement.
