CSEY Stages of Change

Developed by the Texas Center for Child and Family Studies, this training is a deep dive into what each stage of change looks like when working with commercially sexually exploited youth, as well as specific strategies at each stage for safe adults in helping roles to utilize when working with these youth. A significant portion of this training includes understanding why youth tend to remain in each stage for various lengths of time and breaks down some of the misconceptions participants may have about relapse. An emphasis is placed on understanding both strategies to directly utilize with youth in each stage and provider self-care when working with challenging situations that may arise. This training was developed by a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate who is also a survivor of commercial sexual exploitation.
